Have you ever heard of GMOs? Genetically Engineered Organisms? Looking at that needle in the tomato doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy inside, especially when I'm feeding my kids. Do you really know what's in your food?
According to Wikipedia, "Typically, genetically modified foods are transgenic plant products: soybean, corn, canola, rice and cotton seed oil. These may have been engineered for faster growth, resistance to pathogens, production of extra nutrients, or any other beneficial purpose."
This type of genetic alteration is experimental. With no thorough longterm studies of GMOs, I don't want my kids to be guinea pigs! The Right to Know campaign says that in fifty other countries there are strict restrictions or outright bans on GMOs. Just like nutritional labels, this proposition would require food companies to label foods with GMOs.
Whether you believe these genetically modified foods are beneficial or not, you have a right to know what's in your food. Educate yourself today at CARightToKnow.Org.
