Symptoms of a Heart Attack

I'm sure you've heard it on the news...  Famous comedian Rosie O'Donnell suffered a heart attack and says she was "saved by a TV commercial".  She researched her symptoms on the internet and took an aspirin.  O'Donnell even wrote on her blog, “50% of women having heart attacks never call 911/ 200,000 women die of heart attacks/ every year in the US/ by some miracle i was not one of them." I'm glad she took an aspirin and it's important for everyone to know whether aspirin therapy should be part of your daily regiment.  But  as she writes, it's important to take it one step further and call 911!  You don't want to become a statistic.

So what are the symptoms of a heart attack for a woman?  Check out this PSA called Make the Call Don't Miss a Beat.  The song's catchy so it'll help you remember, plus you can learn the dance!  Here are the signs for a woman...  Chest pain or discomfort, unusual upper body discomfort, shortness of breath, breaking out in cold sweats, unusual or unexplained fatigue or tiredness, lightheadedness or dizziness, nausea.  If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, call 911.  Don't be vague, tell them you think you're having a heart attack.  Thanks to Rosie O'Donnell for sharing her story and empowering us to take charge of our heart health.
