Let's Move!

Photo of Gwen Stefani and First Lady Michelle Obama rocking the perfect garden party attire.  I want Stefani's outfit!  They both looked amazing.  Photo  taken from the Hollywood Reporter.

My daughter took a break from all the fun for a photo.

When I got the invite for an Obama Family Day, I couldn't resist.  A petting zoo, balloon artist and face painting (all provided by Send in the Clowns) set in Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's beautiful backyard.  Talk about every child's dream!  One of my favorite chefs, Suzanne Goin of Lucques, AOC and Tavern catered the event.  She served my favorite salad with watermelon and heirloom tomatoes, along with a fresh corn salad that was delicious.  She has an amazing way of preparing fresh, seasonal food that are heart healthy.

There's no doubt the setting was gorgeous, but more important was the message.  I am a huge Michelle Obama fan.  Not only does she have great style, but more importantly she launched the Let's Move campaign.  Raising awareness for heart disease reaches far beyond the old and sick.  It's about teaching parents and kids the importance of moving our bodies and nutritious eating, which is living heart healthy.

Don't forget to add fruits and veggies to every meal, my girls love cherry tomatoes, persian cucumbers, brussel sprouts, asparagus and just about every fruit imaginable.  Introduce them all.  You'd be surprised to see how much kids love them.  Get creative!  It takes baby steps to teach the next generation about prevention.  Oh, my favorite part of prevention is reminding kids to play. So get up and move!
