I hear it all the time... I never have time for me! I'm too busy to think, between all my kids' activities, work, friends, husband, squeezing in workouts, I don't have time to think about myself. If you want to live a healthy life and feel good, you need to carve out some time to pamper yourself. I'm not talking about getting a massage every day, although that would be nice! My ultimate escape is heading down to the beach. What's your escape? You can go for a walk, shut your door for five minutes, interrupt your friend that insists on throwing all her baggage on you or just turn on music and dance. Have fun with it but don't forget to take care of yourself. That's the only way you'll be present for everyone else in your life!

You couldn't be more RIGHT, Amanda! With my 7 kids, part time teaching, blogging, writing, and volunteering, I have to be careful not to overbook myself. For my birthday, I bought a new couch, and have found a favorite spot on it where I allow myself to just sit once in a while. This is new for me. I used to just run run run and fall in a pile each night, then get up and do it again. That MAY be what led to my cardiac arrest.
ReplyDeleteI have officially given myself permission to be human. I even have permission to be "weak", "tired" and "unavailable" when necessary. This is the best gift I've ever given myself. I love being the Mom, wife, teacher, etc. If I don't listen to my body and respect what it has to say, I'm no good to anyone!
Thanks for your sharing! Love that you've given yourself permission to be human. Sending love!
